Maternity leave has given me the opportunity to make some headway on my knitting. I have
been told I am a rare kind of knitter. I don't like to start a project until I have the one I am working on finished, because of this I have very few projects hiding unfinished in my stash. In the last few weeks I have had the needed down time to finish one of the few. My felted clogs! I have no idea why I didn't finish them; I only had about fifteen rounds on the second one left to knit. The knitting only took a couple of hours and only because I had to figure out where I left off. The fun part was findin
g out I really do like felting. I always thought it was kind of silly to knit something so huge just to shrink it down to a smaller version of itself. It turns out it is actually sort of rewarding to see how nice a big floppy knitted wool item can transform into something so beautiful and durable.
I have also been working on my Christmas knitting. I have gotten several gifts done and started in on Peanuts Christmas sweater. I thought it would be impossible to get so much knitting done with a toddler and an infant in tow but I have been lucky enough that they will both sit with me while I
knit. This makes knitting a bit more difficult and not as quick but holding my little peanut while knitting her a sweater makes the whole experience twice as special.
Even with my little helpers I have
been making some good progress. I have the back and both sides of the front done and have started in on one of the sleeves. I should be able to knock out both sleeves, the hood, then finish it up by the end of the weekend.
